  What are Amba towel warmers?
Amba towel warmers are wall mounted towel warmers that are heated. They are designed to keep towels warm and dry. It contributes to reducing laundry loads of towels and bathrobes by keeping them dry it avoids them becoming musty and smelly due to mildew. The towel warmer contributes to drying the room with heat which reduces mold and mildew.

You may also use them for wet bathing suits. Our products are made of Stainless Steel material great for commericial applications like hotels.

Amba products less likely to rust and flake. It is much easier to maintain if scuffed or scratched. The polished units are NOT plated brass, mild steel or aluminium then it is more reliable.

Does Amba sell direct?
(i.e. to end users, remodelers, designers, homebuilders, etc…)

Competitors using the same technology but consider this product a luxury so it is mainly exaggeratedly priced as such.

Amba’s mission is to deliver quality products affordably. In fact our product made of 304 Stainless Steel unlike most others.

Why should we include AMBA amongst others products being offered in showrooms?
You are offering a choice. Amba is the Stainless Steel Alternative. This product is less likely to rust or flake in the polished or Brushed finishes. Great for bathing suit drying applications.

What is the difference between a hydronic unit and an electric unit?
The hydronic heating system is when water is heated in a boiler then it flows through piping going through every radiator I the house it also goes through the towel warmer in the bathroom. The hydronic towel warmer has valves that let the water flow through it. The flow of this hot water heats the towel warmer.  The electrical AMBA towel warmer is sealed closed with an oily substance inside that is heated by a "heating element". In the case of a hydronic version, during the summer, the heating system would be switched off therefore the towel warmer can not dry the towels. Electric units are simpler to install, can be installed anywhere and in the summer the towels will stay dry.

Do you have plug in towel warmers?
Any of our towel warmers can be converted to a plug in. It comes with a 25 inch long wire. You may cut the wire where necessary and add a plug.

What is your Oil Rubbed Bronze finish similar to?
It matches closely to Brasstech or Jado

Will towels feel as warm as they do when they come out of a dryer?
The primary benefit of a towel warmer is to dry your towels. In Europe, many use towel warmers to reduce laundry loads. As towels keep dry they also stay clean, free of musty smell and mildew.

In the process it warms the towels as well.  One cannot have the units get towels as warm as they do in a dryer. This would end up scorching the towels as well as become a safety hazard. Imagine if the towel warmer were hotter than its current temperature range, it would be as hot as an iron.

TIP: If you want them even warmer then put the towels on the rails then cover the whole unit with a towel or bathrobe. This will help better insulate the heat.

What other applications are there for towel warmers?
Everyday, we find people using our products in new and creative ways. Some recent examples are:

  1. Bathing Suits
  2. Hang Pressing Pants
  3. Bathrobes
  4. Boat Cabins and Yachts
  5. Delicate embroidery and bras
  6. In Kitchens, Laundry/Mud rooms

Can I place it outside?
We do not have any certification to put it outside.

What is the liquid inside the rail?
Water and Glycol. It is an oily substance that diffuses the heat coming from the heating element. Most of this substance is water. This is why the unit made of Stainless Steel is good because it is less likely to rust.

Will the stainless steel towel warmers rust?
The units are made of 304 Stainless Steel, which is less likely to corrode/rust. This is important where the threads are.

Do all the horizontal and vertical bars heat up?
Yes both vertical and horizontal heat up.

Sometimes the Jeeves’ collection bottom bars are less warm?
Due to the fact that thermal fluid convection is used to heat the unit, the bottom bar is not as hot as the top bar. This is especially noticeable when the unit has just been switched on.

Do the heated rails consume a lot of energy?
The towel rails have been designed to operate continuously and, depending on the model use the power equivalent to only one or two light bulbs. (depending on the model 60 to 240 watts)

What is the Security Thermo fuse temperature?
That is the cut off temperature for the Safety Cutout.

Are the units safe?
YES! The towel rails have no exposed elements with a safe surface temperature (approximately 154º F). The towel rails have a built in thermostat and internal thermal cut-out for optimal energy consumption and safety. The rails should be installed by an electrician according to the local electrical code (which may be required to be GFCI) Most wiring in bathrooms are already GFCI.

Are the units safe to be left on constantly?
The units have a built in thermostat & internal thermal cutout, the unit will cycle itself to an average temperature of 154˚ degrees Fahrenheit. It switches itself on and off just like a hot water tank. It stays to temperatures typical of a radiator in Europe 60˚ degrees centigrade.

If for any reason it overheats there is a safety cutout switch and the unit will shut off.

Are the units UL Certified?
The whole unit is UL certified in Canada and the USA. The heating element is also UL certified in its own right.  The Elory collection they are ETL certified.

How are the heated towel rails installed?
Install it as you would a wall light, All models are under 2 amps.

What if I have to install on a wall that has the bottom section tiled and the top section not tiled?
Get some washers and add them during installation to the area of the bracket that needs to be leveled.

Can I install the Jeeves’ units upside down?
Always mount the unit with the wire element at the bottom as thermal fluid convection is used to heat the rails.

What is the purpose of a programmable timer?
The purpose of a programmable timer is basically to tell the unit when you want it to turn on and off.  We recommend programmable timers in places like vacation homes.  If you visit your lake house/ beach house etc., every weekend you can set a programmable timer to come on Friday afternoon and shut off when you leave Sunday.

Do you recommend a timer or switch?
For your home we recommend a standard light/wall switch.  The unit works best if kept on at all times, the wattage is so low it’s as if you were to leave a hall light or heated water tank on all the time.

Why is the switch not on the unit?
Firstly, from a design standpoint, we feel that a bulky switch attached to the rail is not aesthetically pleasing. Secondly, having a separate switch allows one to place the switch in the most convenient position, for example, in another room. One is also free to choose the switch that matches the other fittings and décor of the room. Thirdly, because it is not part of the unit, damage to the switch does not impair the functioning of the towel rail. An independent switch is simple to repair; damage to a switch integrated in a unit creates problems with returns and repairs.

What kind of wire is needed for the junction box?
The same as you would for wiring a light bulb. (12 – 16 gauge wire)

Can the wiring be placed on the left instead of the right?
Yes, the wiring can be placed on the left for any model in the Polished, Brushed and Oil Rubbed Bronze finishes only.  Please be aware there is a fee associated with this change.  Your retailer will be able to provide you the actual cost.

Where are the Jeeves made?
The element is made in Italy, the stainless steel tubing and welding in Cape Town, South Africa and the smaller components (connectors and plates) are from the USA

What is the diameter of the horizontal bars of the Jeeves Collection?
¾ inch

What is the diameter of the vertical bars of the Jeeves Collection?

How many volts are the AMBA units?
